About
Background

From the first moment I used a computer—which was terminal hooked up to a HP minicomputer, I knew that working with computers is what I wanted to do with my life. For the past 20+ years, my main interest in computers—both software and hardware—has always been to create tools that automate tasks.
I have always felt that any job is more fun when you use a tool, or tools, to help you out! And I soon learned that it’s an even more rewarding to make tools that are designed so anyone can use them—thus started my interest in usability.
In 1995, I helped to start Interactive Digital Communications, which later merged with JMK to form BrandLogic (web site), one of the leading Branding and Identity firms on the east coast. I am currently the president of BrandLogic Interactive—an application development firm that focuses on Web applications with an emphasis on usability.
To give me a break from my career, I have many wonderful distractions. First and fore most is my
family: my wife Colleen, our two beautiful girls Izabella and Virginia, my son Samuel, and our two border collies Mocha and Bella. We live together in the charming village of Honeoye Falls, New York, just a short drive from Rochester.
I am also interested in astronomy, hiking, hockey, reading, science (all disciplines), and woodworking.
